After completing secondary school I was accepted into Sydney College of the Arts where I majored in photography with minors in painting, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics. I graduated with a Degree in Visual Arts.
Descending from a family of teachers, it felt natural to go on to study at the University of Western Sydney to obtain my Diploma in Art Education. My interest in teaching did not end there and I completed studies in Special Education at the University of New England, graduating with a Degree in Education.
I taught art in high schools then left Australia to live in Japan and teach English. I returned to Australia and had two children. I found a window of opportunity to study design and was accepted into Sydney Design Institute, majoring in costume with a minor in set design. I graduated with a Diploma in Design.
I was commissioned to design and make numerous wedding gowns and also created a line of bags which were sold in markets and boutiques in Sydney. I opened my Etsy shop which sells bags and home decor using my own fabric designs. I was shortlisted along with 19 other emerging designers by the Evie Group to present my work to the public and peers in a series of Designer Talks.
I became a Special Education teacher where I continued to work until I had my third child. I returned to my studies and completed The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design, a thorough and detailed course in all things pattern.
I have completed the 'Make Art that Sells' e-course, and have distilled my years of knowledge and skills to develop a body of work that is fun, unique and colourful, and am on the lookout to license and sell my artwork in all fields.
When I'm not working on my own products, I freelance as a textile designer and have worked extensively with Australian fashion label Bruno Clothing on their upcoming 2016 Spring/Summer collection.
I live with my husband and three children in Bondi Beach where I have lived all my adult life and where I derive much of my inspiration.
